Privacy

Last updated 17 October 2026.

The short version: no accounts, no analytics, no advertising. The only thing kept about you is the list of items you look up, under random ids in one cookie.

Your list

The cookie named list holds random ids and nothing else, one for each list you keep in this browser (up to ten). It is created when you first look an item up or change countries — reading the page stores nothing — and on the server each id has your item numbers, the countries you compare and the name you gave the list, if you did. It lasts 400 days, and a list nobody comes back to is deleted. A couple of other cookies are technical: they keep the forms from being submitted from another site and carry a message across a redirect when JavaScript is off.

The cookie named lang remembers the language you picked, and holds nothing else.

The site can be installed as an app. For that, a small program in your browser (a service worker) keeps the site's own scripts, styles and pictures on your device, and a page that says you are offline. It keeps no lists, prices or anything you typed.

The browser extension, if you use it, sends this site the number of the IKEA item you are looking at, and the countries and currency you chose in it, and nothing else. It sends a cart or shopping list only when you press its button, and then only the item numbers. It keeps its settings in your browser.

You can share a list. The link you get lets another person join it, and from then on everyone on the list sees and can change the same items and countries. The link works for seven days or until you make a new one, and anyone on the list can stop sharing, which takes the list away from everyone else. For this the server also keeps the link's code, when it stops working and when someone first joined.

What the site does with what you send

Your browser sends the item number you look up and the countries you tick. The barcode scanner reads the picture on your device; only the number it finds is sent here. If you search by name instead, this site's server passes those words to IKEA's search and keeps the answer for a day, so that the same search is not made twice; the words are forgotten a month later and say nothing about who searched for them. Prices are read from IKEA's websites by this site's server, and exchange rates come from the European Central Bank — your browser asks neither of them. Product pictures are the exception: they come to your browser straight from ikea.com, so IKEA sees your IP address, as it does if you follow a price through to a product page.

Server logs and delivery

Like most web servers, this one keeps standard access logs (IP address, date and time, page requested) for a limited time, used only to operate and secure the site. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles the connection to your browser for the same purpose.
